The ResQUp is quite simple to use following a non-injurious fall.

The fallen person can use the ResQUp to ascend to a sitting position, and from that position, stand up to a stabilizing piece of furniture or transfer to a walker, wheelchair, etc. If the ResQUp is not nearby, a caregiver can assist in fall recovery by moving it into position and guide the process. The fallen person can use one of the following methods for transferring to a seated or standing position:

Using Hands

Fall Recovery

  • The fallen person moves forward up each level of the device, using the padded handles at each stage for stability.
  • This fall recovery method requires putting pressure on the knees and some upper body strength but may feel more natural for some users.

Using Elbows

Fall Recovery2

  • The fallen person turns to their strongest side and uses their elbows to push themselves up to each level of the ResQUp in turn, and finally to a seat.
  • This fall recovery method requires little leg strength and less upper body strength than the other methods.

Using Hands & Feet

Fall Recovery3

  • This method has the fallen person back up to the ResQUp and scoot up to each level in reverse, using their hands on the padded handles to lift themselves up and their legs to guide them rearward to the next level.
  • This fall recovery method requires more upper body strength than the others.

Many people would like to get down to the floor to play with children or do other hobbies that otherwise would be difficult. The ResQUp can simply help them get down to the floor and get back up again. Using the ResQUp as a therapeutic exercise tool will help improve upper body strength.

The more strength one has, the more they will be able to prevent falls, and be more confident getting back up again. People that have more confidence in their physical abilities are likely to exercise more, contributing to their overall well-being.
